Xtech.pl B2B Information Exchange runs a number of Services that serve as an internet platform for information exchange. They reported to us with the request for help in constructing a new salary (reward) system. Even though the rewards system that already existed in the company performed its function - employees were loyal, company was developing year by year - the board was not sure if it was effective because of its arbitraryness. The system was based on the individual contracts of employees with the chairman. Our task was to create a system that would be ruled by the set of objective rules. We started with Salary System Preferences Questionnaire later named as "openFeedback". Thanks to employees' opinions we conducted  the workshops after which the "salary team" that settled frameworks of the new reward system emerged. It was essential to set the size of salary budget. To estimate the amount of salary of each employee it was neccesary to measure their competencies. In order to do it "openExpert" questionnaire was created. After filling it up by all the employees it turned out that they did not manage their professional development sensibly. The company did not have the adequate systems in this area as well. According to "openExpert" questionnaire we made salaries simulations and compared the results with the current salaries. The simulations showed both the need for adjustment in some employees payments and the neccesity of finding the objective system of measuring competencies. The construction of these systems needs to be followed by the good description of the business process and role that each employee plays in it.
